Our customised white fillings match your tooth shade, thus providing a discreet solution for tooth decay and tooth damage such as cracks or chips.
We can also replace old and worn amalgam metal fillings with a white filling. The presence of a white filling supports the remaining structure of a tooth, and as they can be directly bonded to your tooth, they can reduce the need to remove tooth tissue prior to treatment.
What is a white filling?
White fillings are a type of filling made from composite resin. This material is tooth-coloured, so no one will notice you have had a tooth filled.
We can replace amalgam (silver) fillings with white fillings and use them to address existing decay. White fillings offer strength and protection to a tooth once the decay at the centre has been cleared away and the tooth has been sealed.
How will a white filling benefit me?
Natural-looking outcome Smile, eat and laugh without the worry that anyone will notice your filling. It will be completely tooth-coloured, blending in with your tooth shade.
Fewer cracks and chips Since white fillings aren’t prone to damage due to temperature shifts in your mouth, they won’t contract and expand.
Free from mercury For health reasons, many patients prefer the peace of mind of having a filling that does not contain mercury.
Simple procedure The composite resin used for the white filling process adheres directly to the tooth, reducing the overall treatment time.
The white filling process
Step 1: Treatment preparation At the first appointment, we will identify the extent of the decay and if it has affected nearby teeth.
Step 2: Preparing the area Local anaesthetic is administered to the area around the tooth. The decayed portion of the tooth is removed, and the area is cleaned and sealed.
Step 3: Filling the tooth The composite resin is placed within the tooth and shaped to fill the cavity. The tooth is polished.
Why choose us?
At Lockwood Dental Practice, our focus is on preventive dentistry. Much as we love to see our patients and care for their smiles, ideally, we want to make sure you’re not coming to us often for advanced restorative procedures.
Instead, we will help you aspire to keep advanced restorative procedures to a minimum so you can keep your natural teeth for as many years as possible.
We are a practice that keenly embraces digital dentistry; our impression-taking system is completely digitised, which is not only time-saving but also more comfortable for our patients.
We love the relationships we have built with our patients, and our team are respectful and kind and always looks forward to seeing you. The community feel of the practice is something we will always strive to nurture.

It's been almost 8 years with Lockswood Dental Practice for my family now. We found Dr Philip Jack a very experienced yet humble doctor. The dental services deserve five stars. Another thing which requires explicit mention is , Dr Jack is a very honest Doctor.
Dr Philip Jack - Brilliant, knowledgeable dentist & very 'gentle'. Never seems rushed & explains everything that's going on. He's done some complicated work for me & all has gone well. His guide price for implants seems reasonable too.I'd recommend him to friends.
